Hibachi

This "recipe" is a mismatch of a few different sources that creates the perfect combination for hibachi at home!  Turns out, hibachi is really easy with only a few ingredients!
One thing I love, is that you can alter this recipe here and there to fit some healthier needs (low sodium soy sauce, ghee butter, coconut oil, more veggies, etc)
Included in this recipe is the infamous Yum Yum sauce.  Madison has been busted licking the entire bowl after we make her "steak sauce" as she calls it!

We typically eat steak and chicken with onions and zucchini as our veggies.  The beauty of hibachi is that you can add whatever meat or veggies you want!

Hibachi Protein

Ingredients:
6 Tablespoons soy sauce
4 Tablespoons butter
2 tsp lemon juice
3 tsp sesame seeds

The overall goal is to lightly cook your proteins (in this case, steak and chicken) because it will continue to cook in the sauce.  So if you want your steak medium, you may want to just sear the meat or cook it rare.  For the chicken, I cook it just before browning.

1. Season steak with salt and pepper
2. Heat a skillet to medium high heat.  To test, add a few drops of water and they should evaporate immediately.  Add the steak whole and sear for a few minutes on each side.  (I typically take it off at this point because we like our steak medium).
3.  After searing the steak, leave it on a plate to cool.  If you cut the meat while it is hot, you will loose the juices that help make the steak tender.
4. After it is cooled, cut the steak into cubes!

For the chicken, I typically cut into 1 inch cubes and cook them until they just begin to brown.

After the proteins are all cooked, just mix in the above ingredients!

Hibachi Veggies

Ingredients:
6 Tablespoons soy sauce
4 Tablespoons butter
2 tsp lemon juice
3 tsp sesame seeds
1 large white onion
2 or 3 zucchini squash cut into 2 inch long spears

1. Add onion to a large skillet with a little bit of coconut oil or butter.  Cook until starting to soften (3 to 4 minutes)
2. Cook veggies to desired texture (I like my zucchini a little crunchy)
4.  Add in the soy sauce, butter, lemon juice and sesame seeds and cook for a few more minutes.

Hibachi Fried Rice

Warning!  We double this recipe and the rice still goes quick!

3 Tablespoons butter
2 cups leftover rice (or rice that was just made ;) )
2 Tablespoons soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
Sesame seeds

1.  Add the sesame oil to a large skillet or wok.  Add in the butter and melt.

2.  Add the rice to the skillet and mix.  "Fry" the rice for a 3-4 minutes and add in the soy sauce and sesame seeds.

Hibachi Yum Yum Sauce

This is something I'm passionate about.  The store bought Yum Yum sauce is never the same!  It tastes so strange! This recipe is legit and we use it every single time! Make this ahead of time and refrigerate after to let the flavors fully meld!

Ingredients:

1 ¼ cup hellmans mayo
¼ cup water
1 tsp tomato paste
1 Tablespoon melted butter
½ tsp garlic powder
1 tsp sugar
¼ tsp paprika
Dash cayenne pepper

There you have it!  Serve all together with some yum yum sauce and devour!
